Preparation

I have been spending a lot of time the last few days working on lessons for my Bible study. We are going to be covering Philippians, and I am using my new program by Logos to aid me in preparing. It is very intense what I am learning. There are all kinds of things that I never realized about the situation behind the people, area, etc. regarding Philippians. IT has been rewarding so far, but at the same time it is taking a lot longer to prepare than I thought it would. I have spent quite a few hours (9-10 at least so far), just getting the background and part one (Phil. 1:1-26) prepared. I hope and pray that the other people in my group get as much out of it as I am.

A Devotion to Service or God or Both

I was just doing my daily devotional that is apart of the new Bible software we recently purchased, it has done a great job at keeping me focused on praying, and today’s topic was serving God.  The writer made an interesting statement that I think a lot of evangelical Christians are falling into: “Are we being more devoted to serves than to Jesus Christ?”  Boy, that is a loaded question, but one that I think is happening more and more these days.  I know that scripture tells us that we are to serve Him, and do things for Him in His name.  Faith and service go very hand and hand (you can’t have one without the other, just read James), but you can get to the point where you lose sight of the meaning for the service.  We need to keep God as our main focus and devotion in life.  Never forget that.  What do you think?

Melonpool

Just a quick one for the day before I go to bed. I am planning to write a longer one in a day or two. If you enjoy reading comics then there is a really great online one called Melonpool. I have a link on the side for the site. The official discription is - Comedy/sci-fi strip. Think "Star Trek" meets "Gilligan's Island" with a giant hamster thrown in for good measure. It is really great. The artist is currently taking a little time off, and I think he deserves some emails from people telling him that people do read it and care. I have and I think if you could get into it most people would enjoy it too.
